My Use
The lesson from Wednesday is done completely on the SMARTboard. Following the inquiry portion of the lesson there is a lecture portion in which I use the SMARTboard to teach. The ability to interact with the bullet points and circle, underline, or add information with the board is great. The final part of the lesson includes a matching game that will allow me to physically move the answers to their correct match as we review as a class.

Student Use
During the Choice Board homework assignment from Monday's Direct Instruction lesson the children are expected to find at least 1 website to support their conclusions in the assignment. The students are practicing research and learning how to evaluate a resource's usefulness to their assignment. Also, 2 of the options on the Choice Board are making a video recording and making a PowerPoint, Glogster, or Prezi, which many kids might prefer over a regular written assignment.

Websites
I utilize 2 short videos from the History Channel in my unit because they allow the class to see a visual representation of the information and it provides a nice, brief break for my self and the students to get refreshed.

In my Cause and Effect lesson I use an article from the BBC History website as a supplemental resource for the kids to read. Also, I use it further my own knowledge and learn more about the material that I am covering.

Rubistar is a great website that allows you to create rubrics of any size and shape. It saves time and effort which are often in short supply for teachers, and I use it several times in my unit.

I use Mapping History to supplement my lesson about the early Greeks and the geography of Greece because their detailed maps are great. They are very informative and they also include a description of what is on the map itself to further explain what is being shown.

Education Place is a useful website because it provides numerous free resources for teachers. I used it to find a lesson about Alexander the Great, but the site also includes maps, graphic organizers, activities, and other useful resources for a teacher.
